William was born on December 14th, 1876. William's father was William Hugh Potts and his mother was Sarah Catherine Sanders. His maternal grandparents were David Stephen Sanders and Harriett H. Stewart. He had six brothers and three sisters, named Brazos, Aaron, Chester, Edmund, Hugh, John, Julia, Emma and Betty. He died at the age of 81 on November 18th, 1958.
