James was born on January 17th, 1860 in Ellis Co., TX.  James' father was William Carroll Sanders and his mother was Sarah Frances Austin.  His paternal grandparents were Julius  Sanders and Penelope (Parthenia) Fields. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Aaron, William, Jane and Catherine.  He was the fourth oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 90 on January 10th, 1951 in Winters, Runnells Co., TX.
