    Clinton A. Lowe, 89, of Driftwood, Texas, died at his home March 6, 2004, surrounded by his family, following a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born February 24, 1915, in Sevier County, Arkansas, to Ransom S. Lowe and Nora Sanders Lowe. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Clinton grew up in East Texas graduating from Quitman High School in 1937. He entered the work force in 1938 and moved to Houston, Texas, in 1940. Always the outdoorsman, he could walk through any forest naming every tree and knew all the birds by their songs. Clinton was a charter member of the Wimberley Church of Christ and was active until his early illness. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Betty Wingrove Lowe; daughter, Kathleen (Sam) and husband, Don Korenek of Benbrook, Texas; son, Dan Lowe and his wife, Becky of Houston, Texas; daughter, Maxine Elizabeth and husband, David Pickard of Mansfield, Texas; sister, Norma Balajka of Waco, Texas. Clinton was also blessed with six grandchildren, Kathleen and Robert Robb, Clint and Jana Korenek, Travis and Angel Korenek, Elizabeth and Sgt. Johnny Wilson, Brian Pickard, and John Pickard. His seven great- grandchildren, Mason, Jacob, Christian, Cameron, Ambri, Kylie, and Coleton were the pride and joy of their ``G-Paw'. He was a beloved uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. There were three special people in his life: in-laws, Maxine Wingrove, Patricia and Bill Churchwell. Clinton was a veteran of World War II and served proudly as a member of the 517 Parachute Combat team in Europe from 1942 until 1945. He was a member of Houston Painters Local #130 from 1945 to 1965, sewing as business manager of the Local as well as president of the Houston Building and Trades Council. In 1965 he began work for the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training, until his retirement in 1981. The family will receive friends Friday, March 12, 2004, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Thomason Funeral Home in Wimberley, Texas. The Funeral Service will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2004, in The Chapel of Thomason Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Wimberley Cemetery. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers. A family celebration of his life will follow the graveside service.
