Josephine was born on October 21st, 1888 in Nolan Co., TX.  Josephine's father was Aaron R. Sanders and her mother was Lou Cynthia Ann “Lucynthia” Barksdale.  Her paternal grandparents were William Carroll Sanders and Sarah Frances Austin. She had three brothers and three sisters, named James, Carroll, Aaron, Sarah, Kathryn and Lillian.  She was the fifth oldest of the seven children. She had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named William, Charles and Mary.
