John was born on October 3rd, 1904.  John's father was Hansford Newton Sanders and his mother was Arvie Zennia Alexander.  His paternal grandparents were David Stephen Sanders and Harriett H. Stewart. He had a sister named Ethel.  He was the older of the two children. He had four half-brothers and five half-sisters, named William, Jacie, Jesse, Dude, Harriett, Mary, Leona, Nora and Dora.  He died from cancer at the age of 65 on December 8th, 1969 in Houston, TX.
