Leona was born on November 28th, 1887 in Arkansas. Leona's father was Hansford Newton Sanders and her mother was Mary Catherine “Katie” Weems. Her paternal grandparents were David Stephen Sanders and Harriett H. Stewart; her maternal grandparents were Daniel Liddell Weems and Rosanna Littlefield. She had four brothers and four sisters, named William, Jacie, Jesse, Dude, Harriett, Mary, Nora and Dora. She was the seventh oldest of the nine children. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named John and Ethel. She died at the age of 39 on December 6th, 1926.
